Video file size calculator
How much space will your videos need? Compare decimal GB with binary GiB using your own average bitrates.
Your video settings
How the estimate works
Multiply seconds by the combined average bitrate, then divide by eight to convert bits to bytes. The file count multiplies the single-file estimate.
B = min × 60 × (Mbps × 10⁶ + kbps × 10³) ÷ 8Only video and audio streams are included. Container metadata, subtitles and other data are excluded. A target bitrate can differ from the actual average: enter your average, not a resolution label. File size is not guaranteed.
Check the unit definitions
Mbps and kbps use decimal multiples. MB and GB are decimal storage units; GiB is binary. Different unit labels can describe the same data.
1 B = 8 bit · 1 MB = 10⁶ B · 1 GB = 10⁹ B · 1 GiB = 2³⁰ BNIST: decimal and binary prefixes ↗Check the filled example
Chosen example: 10 minutes, 8 Mbps video, 128 kbps audio and one file. These are not codec or resolution recommendations.
10 × 60 × (8 × 10⁶ + 128 × 10³) ÷ 8 = 609,600,000 B = 609.6 MBAccepted input values
