Paper sheet calculator

How many sheets do my document copies need if each starts on a fresh sheet?

Compare one-sided and two-sided sheet counts and unused page positions for your chosen pages per side.

Your document and copy counts

Use whole counts. Pages and copies may be 0; pages per side must be at least 1. Every copy starts a fresh physical sheet. Use a setting your software and printer support.

How the estimate works

For each model, divide source pages by pages per side times 1 or 2, then round up to whole sheets for one copy. Multiply by copies only after rounding. Subtract source pages from available positions to count unused positions. Partial sheets are never shared between copies. Sides holding source pages equal source pages divided by pages per side, rounded up.

s = 1, 2
S = ceil(P ÷ (m × s))
total = S × C
unused = (S × m × s − P) × C

A count model, not a page-layout or printer-control tool. Identical copies start on new sheets; unused positions are not added source pages. No booklet or poster layout, covers, separators, mixed documents, reprints, jams, ink, cost or time. Check actual pages-per-side and duplex settings; compatibility, readability and actual paper use are not guaranteed. No file upload or printing action.
