Curtain fabric calculator
How much fabric does my curtain cutting plan need?
Estimate fabric metres from your coverage, fullness, equal panels, usable fabric width, allowances and vertical repeat.
Your dimensions in centimetres
Enter usable width after excluding selvages and your vertical seam allowances. Strips run down the fabric length; leftover widths are not shared between panels. This is not a minimum-waste layout optimizer.
How the estimate works
Multiply the covered width by your fullness, divide by the number of equal panels, then round up the number of usable fabric widths for each panel separately. Add height and allowances; when a repeat is entered, round each cut length up to a whole repeat. Multiply strip count by cut length and divide centimetres by 100.
W × F ÷ N ÷ U → ⌈…⌉
3 × 2 = 6
6 × 270 cm ÷ 100 = 16.2 mAbout these inputs
Sailrite: curtain inputs and vertical repeat (a different calculator model) ↗Straight vertical repeats only. Initial pattern trimming, half-drop matching, shrinkage, lining and crosswise layouts are not included. Choose your own fullness and allowances; the filled example is not a sewing norm. Check your actual cutting plan before buying or cutting.
Check the filled example
Chosen example: 300 cm coverage, fullness 2, two panels,140 cm usable width,240 cm finished height and 10 + 20 cm allowances. Each panel needs 3 strips: 6 × 270 cm = 16.2 m. A 64 cm repeat changes the cut to 320 cm: 19.2 m.
