Cuboid volume and surface area
What are the volume and total area of all six faces of your rectangular cuboid?
Enter three positive perpendicular dimensions in centimetres for geometric volume and closed surface area.
Your three dimensions
Use three mutually perpendicular edges of the same rectangular cuboid, all in centimetres and on the same boundary. All three dimensions are required. Enter decimal fractions, not a/b.
How the estimate works
Volume V = L×W×H. Total surface area S = 2(L×W + L×H + W×H): each of the six rectangular faces is counted once. All three dimensions must be valid and positive for either result. Exact decimal fractions of accepted numerical values are used for products and sums before final numeric rounding; rounded intermediate areas are not reused.
V = L × W × H
S = 2 × (L × W + L × H + W × H)Only the geometry of a declared closed rectangular cuboid. Not an open box or a material estimate. No wall thickness, hollow-shell material volume, folds, flaps, seams, overlaps, waste, openings or coating quantity. No unit conversion or diagram. This does not validate measurements, estimate uncertainty or guarantee capacity, fit, strength, installation or safety. Dimensions must describe the same inner or outer boundary; neither is inferred.
OpenStax: rectangular-solid volume and surface area ↗Check the filled example
Our chosen example: L = 7 cm, W = 4 cm, H = 2.5 cm. V = 70 cm³; the three face areas are 28, 17.5 and 10 cm², so S = 2×55.5 = 111 cm². These are mathematical example dimensions, not a packaging standard or material recommendation.
